A Passion for Animals from the Start
For Dr. Alex Fasano, caring for animals has always been more than just a career—it has been a lifelong passion. From a young age, he felt a deep connection with animals, understanding their emotions and needs in a way that set him apart. Growing up in Long Island, New York, he spent much of his time surrounded by pets, volunteering at animal shelters, and fostering a love for veterinary medicine that would shape his future.
As he grew older, his fascination with animal health and welfare only deepened. He pursued a degree in veterinary medicine, dedicating years to rigorous study, hands-on experience, and compassionate service. He knew from early on that his mission was not only to heal pets but also to support the families who loved them. This drive would eventually lead him to create Royal Farewells, an at-home pet euthanasia service designed to provide pets with a peaceful and dignified passing in the comfort of their own homes.
Veterinary Journey and Professional Experience
Dr. Fasano’s veterinary career began with a strong foundation in general practice, where he treated a wide variety of animals and developed expertise in areas such as preventive care, emergency medicine, and palliative treatment. Over the years, he worked in numerous veterinary hospitals, gaining experience in diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, and helping pet owners make important medical decisions for their beloved companions.
Throughout his time in practice, one of the most emotional and challenging aspects of his job was assisting families with end-of-life decisions for their pets. Witnessing pets in distress during their final moments in clinical settings made him realize that there had to be a gentler, more comforting way to help pets transition peacefully. He envisioned a service that would eliminate the stress of a veterinary visit and allow pets to pass in a place where they felt safe and loved.
The Inspiration Behind Royal Farewells
The idea for Royal Farewells was born from Dr. Fasano’s desire to provide compassionate, stress-free end-of-life carefor pets and their families. He saw how difficult it was for pet owners to transport their sick or elderly animals to a clinic for euthanasia, and he knew that there had to be an alternative that honored the human-animal bond in a more meaningful way.
With this vision in mind, he established Royal Farewells in Long Island, New York, with the goal of offering:
- At-home pet euthanasia for a peaceful and dignified farewell
- Pet cremation and memorial services to help families honor their pets
- Compassionate consultations to assist pet owners in making informed decisions about end-of-life care
By providing these services in a familiar environment, Dr. Fasano ensures that pets are not subjected to the stress of a clinical setting. Instead, they can spend their final moments surrounded by love, comfort, and peace.
